First 100 Days of UPA Govt.

The Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and the Chairperson of UPA, Smt.Sonia Gandhi deserve to be profusely complemented for initiating crucial steps in the Ministries of Rural Development, Human Resource Development, Environment & Forest, Home, Finance and Commerce, during the First 100 days of UPA Govt. (2 nd term) in Office, thanks to energetic Ministers.

Hundred days is too short a time to judge the performance of the Govt. concerning more than One Billion People, more so wile battling an economic slowdown, an epidemic that is testing the country's stretched public health infrastructure, internal security threats & problems, lower Seasonal Rains etc

The Policies, Plans and Programs are invariably well intentioned, but they fail to have the desired impact on the stake holders for whom they are really meant, because of poor delivery system which is insensitive , unresponsive, not transparent , not made accountable for the end results and Corrupt to the core from top to bottom. The quote of Swamy Vivekananda - ''You have to be practicable in all spheres of work. The whole country has been ruined by masses of theories" may not be out of place.

"We need to have three things: the Heart to Feel, the Brain to Conceive, the Hand to Work" - Swamy Vivekananda

In UPA Government, we seem to have the first two - the Heart to Feel (UPA Leader) , the Brain to Conceive (Prime Minister) , but not the "Hands to Work".(Good Governance).

We need the governance with Truthfulness, Purity and Unselfishness (corruption free), from top to bottom, including policy and decision makers, the administrators and the lowest rung of the delivery system. Under the present system, the quotes of Swamy Vivekananda or any scriptures do not make any sense. The only answer is to ensure the "Rule of Law", which seems to be a serious causality at present, without any exceptions. The "Rule of Law" can be ensured only by instilling the fear of punishment by setting an example at the highest level and by making any violation a "High-Risk" Business, instead of being a "High-Profit" Business as at present.

The sincere and honest efforts by the Govt. to get back the Indian money of Rs.7,00,000 Crores reported to be lying in Swiss and German Banks, at the earliest, will speak volumes about Purity, Honesty and Character of the UPA Government and will be a stepping stone for ensuring Good Governance with "Hands to Work" which are crippled at present.

  1. It is extremely well taught and written. we need honest implementers irrespective whether you are a govt. official or a elected representative, to carry out the good programs of UPA govt.
In our state i.e AP alone, no other person less than our late chief Minister YSR Reddy said NREGS of the central govt. was miss used. This was a candid acknowledgment of former CM, so that all buacrates, govt. officials and especially other elected public representatives starting from Supanches to MLA's and MP's.
They all should fall in line and at the least carry out the programs set for the general public. If they do so they will be doing great justice to this country of over one billion people.
